Published venue fees in New York City
Central Park wedding permits
Rate note: NYC Parks' published wedding guidance; confirm the specific location and event date. The application charge is not an exclusive venue rental.
| Fee or option | Published amount | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Park permit application | $25 | Nonrefundable; required for gatherings of 20 or more |
| Private reception venue | Separate quote | The park permit does not buy a restaurant or reception room |
Parks advises allowing at least 30 days for processing. Its Central Park guidance limits Cop Cot to 50 people and Ladies Pavilion to roughly 20–25. Ordinary park weddings do not include chairs, tables, tents, amplified music or exclusive use of the surrounding park. Source details ↓
How to compare your options
Build two timelines before signing: the ceremony permit window and the reception room's access window. A low park application fee can still leave you paying for transport, a private meal and a second photography location. Walk the route with your guest list in mind; a short distance on a map is not the same as an easy transfer for guests in formalwear or using mobility aids.

Questions for your New York City venue
- Which exact park location is approved for our total headcount?
- What is our weather alternative if we cannot put up a tent?
- Can the reception accept guests early if the ceremony finishes ahead of schedule?
Ask for one written total
Have the venue separate rent, required services, food and beverage minimums, service charges, tax and deposits. Confirm which payments reduce the final balance and which are extra. Request the cancellation, weather and overtime terms with the quote.
If coordination is included or required, compare its scope with a wedding coordinator or day-of coordinator before hiring additional help.
